Chandigarh:The Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) branch of the Mohali police claims to have busted an immoral trafficking racket, which included foreign nationals, operating in the region for the past couple of months. Police arrested five women from a house in Sector 68 on Wednesday. A team headed by DSP (D) Amrit Singh, acting on a tip-off apprehended the gang members by sending a decoy customer.
Out of the five arrested women in the flesh trade racket, four are Uzbekistan nationals. The main member of the gang has been identified as Dr Amarjit Kaur Gill (52). The other accused have been identified as Jimira (41), Mohabbat (23), Mehri (27) and Preeti alias Ruchi (19 ), who is a resident of Delhi. During interrogation, Gill reportedly told the police that she got the girls from Delhi, Punjab and foreign countries, on a monthly contract which could run into lakhs and used to charge Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 from each customer. The list of customers included several property dealers, policemen and advocates.
According to the police, Amarjit, started the prostitution racket quite a while ago and lured many foreign nationals into the trade. She reportedly also revealed that within a period of a month she got a new place to run her business due to security concerns. She had chosen the city as there was a huge demand for foreign women. The business started through the internet, but she later shifted to mobile phones as popularity grew. The accused were presented in the court and the bench sent them to judicial custody till January 25.
