Sex racket on for 6 months: Cops

MARGAO: Police investigations into the prostitution racket that was busted on Friday, following raids at a bungalow at Colmorod-Navelim, revealed that the bungalow was being used for the last six months. A source added that efforts were still on to locate the absconding Bengali couple, who the police suspect to be the key accused in the organized sex racket. The bungalow at Colmorod had been rented out to Babu Bengali, a native of West Bengal.

On Friday, two persons who facilitated the flesh trade were arrested, while two women were forced into prostitution were rescued by police. The bail application for Ashraf Qureshi from Mumbai who used to facilitate the operations was rejected. A police source added that investigations are still underway.

Abbas Moiddin who worked at manager of a ‘resort’ at Maina Curtorim which served as a brothel was granted bail on 10,000 with one surety and was asked to be present at the Margao police station for the next 5 days. Moiddin was arrested following a raid by the police at the resort, after the victims informed the police that they were often sent to that place. Police sources added that further investigations are still underway.

And he is still under arrest under Sections 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act
