NE trafficking victim rescued from Haryana

NEW DELHI, Sept 15 – In yet another case of human trafficking involving a girl from the North-east has come to light, with security forces rescuing a minor girl hailing from Mizoram from the traffickers in Rewari district of Haryana. A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel trafficked the girl.

In a joint rescue operation conducted by Mizoram Police, Delhi-based NGO Shakti Vahini and a Mizoram-based NGO, CHAN rescued the girl and apprehended five traffickers. They were identified as Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Ram Yadav, Dharamvir Yadav, Jile, Mahinder Singh.

During counselling it was revealed that on June 6, Satyawan, a BSF personnel of SHQ, Aizawl, dispatched the girl to his home village Rotwal, Alwar district, Rajasthan via Guwahati. The girl was received by Raju Yadav who is a brother of Satyawan Yadav.

Raju in connivance with other accomplices sold the victim for Rs. 90,000. Satyawan who availed leave also reached his home village Rotwal. He was paid Rs 50,000. On learning that a criminal case was registered at Aizawl, in connection with the missing of the girl, her captors decided to kill her. However, Dharamvir Yadav who was contracted to kill her sold her to Ram Yadav and his son Dinesh Kumar Yadav for a false marriage for Rs. 50,000.

The rescue team raided the house of Ram Yadav in Rewari, Haryana on the night of September 12, and rescued the victim and her captors were arrested, Ravi Kant, who led the team of NGOs, said the victim has been produced before the chairperson, Child Welfare Committee. The CWC ordered for reproducing the girl before the CWC Aizwal. Mizoram Police were given 10 days transit remand for the accused.

The Mizoram Police team and NGOs Shakti Vahini, Delhi and CHAN, Mizoram are camping at Haryana and Rajasthan for further pursuance of the investigations.
